Birth Support Package...unpacked.
An initial free consultation is always offered. This is a chance for us to get to know each other a little bit and get a feel for working together...an interview of sorts. You will leave this meeting with a copy of my contract and a clear understanding of my background, professional training, and the services I offer.
Once you've made the decision to hire me, we will have two prenatal meetings to talk about your specific labor and birth wishes and go over labor strategies. During these meetings I will answer any questions you have and provide you resources as you make decisions regarding your options in labor and birth. We will discuss the creation of your birth plan. We will talk through relaxation techniques and exercises/positions to help ease pregnancy discomforts. We will also talk about postpartum transitions and work on creating a postpartum care plan.
I will be available to answer questions and address concerns/apprehensions throughout your pregnancy. From the signing of your contract you will be able to reach me via phone, text or email for any support you need. No question is too small!
During early labor I will provide over-the-phone encouragement and support until you are ready for me to join you in person. You will receive face-to-face support from the time requested (comfort measures, labor positions, encouragement) in the birth environment of your choice until your baby is in your arms.
I will remain with you for 2-4 hours after birth to help establish bonding and breastfeeding and make sure you are comfortable and settled with your precious new baby.
Within the first 10 days I will come and do an in-home postpartum visit. This is a time for us to review your birth story and talk through any questions or concerns you have. It is an opportunity for me to make sure you are getting the rest and care you need as you recover and, of course, to admire your sweet little one. I can also provide referrals to other services that may be helpful if desired.
I will continue to be available by phone, text or email to provide encouragement, breastfeeding support, recovery recommendations and newborn care tips as you transition as a family. It is my joy to stay in touch with the families I serve as they continue their journey through life's seasons.
