Meet your doula...
Hi! I'm April Myers. My journey as a birth professional began, unbeknownst to me, as my husband and I prepared to welcome our first baby. As I began to read and educate myself about pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, and breastfeeding the stacks of books I checked out from the library fueled a passion in me that took me by surprise. I found myself in awe of these miraculous processes surrounding the bringing forth of new life. As my family continued to grow over the next several years so did my passion for all things related to pregnancy and birth.
As time progressed, it became clear that supporting women and their families throughout the childbearing year was more than just a hobby, it was my calling. Each of my own birth experiences was unique - stretching me, challenging me and growing me as a woman, a mother and ultimately as a doula: a woman serving women.
I believe that women's bodies are perfectly designed to bear, birth and nourish children and that this is a beautiful, natural process. The childbearing year is a wonderful, miraculous time. There is so much to celebrate! There are also lots of things to educate yourself about, myriads of decisions to make, and so many questions. As a birth doula, my heart is to come alongside couples every step of the way, lending my experience, knowledge and resources to their journey. It would be an honor and a joy to support you and your family on this amazing journey.
When I'm not at a birth I keep happily busy with my family...homeschooling, spending time in the mountains, playing games together and generally enjoying large family life. Front porches, hot tea, all the kids piled on my bed, hiking, quilting, and a good book....these are a few of my favorite things.
